July Journey

This July we honored Minority Mental Health Month by sharing facts and statistics on minority mental health through our Instagram and Facebook pages. Mental health can affect all people regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, economic status and other diverse backgrounds. Share some of these mental health statistics with someone you know to spread awareness about the importance of mental health for all.

We are thrilled we got to visit Girl Scout camp this month! Connie Palmer, LCSW, from Therapeutic Learning Center gave the presentation Girl Scouts & Mental Health. This was a fun and interactive way to work towards the Science of Happiness badge.

Marianne, from the Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation had the opportunity to talk to the cadettes about ways to find happiness when life hands you the unexpected. Number one was explaining how happiness and joy can be found in helping others. Number two was teaching the 5x5 message. The girls were a captive audience and hopefully in earning their Science of Happiness Badge, they learned some good tips on self-empowerment and kindness. We wrapped the presentation up by leaving the girls with positive affirmation bracelets to remind them of just how special they are. Thank you Girl Scouts and Mckenzie Alvarez for this amazing opportunity! 🩵
